Last weeks recap
Kickelback - 6 Balls to the Wall - 11
A fun game to watch, especially when the kickelback pitcher sled to base and ending up with a memorable scrap she can tell her grandkids someday.
The Closers - 5 1st United Ct - 12
This game was close 4-3 with the closers winning going into the 4th, then the Pink Pirates realized what was going on. You see the score
UniBalls - 2 Blue Mooners - 3
A real tough, close, grind em’ out type of game. The Mooners walked away with the “W” by the skin of their teeth.
Balls of Fury - 3 Inglorious Ballstards - 7
This game was intense; Injuries, arguing, benches almost cleared, ejections were threaten and I think some friendship bridges were burned
Wrecking Balls - 1 Schweddy Balls - 5
The big upset of the day. Just a week after almost upsetting the 1uckers, Wreckers had no answer for the cowbell
Free Ballers - 2 Balls Deep - 11
Dubbed the“game of the season”, this was anything but that. A complete drubbing and domination from start to finish. Look out pink pirates

Schweddy Balls
"Five to one, baby, one in five. No one here gets out alive..."
And that's how it ended up. We got the jump on those green-shirted Wreckers with a four run first inning. Aw, look at that cute little deer just standing there in the road, mesmerized by our headlights. It was evident: we were underestimated. That would not be the case for the remainder of the game. They tightened up and held us to only one more run. We, however, played a tight game ourselves with a cohesiveness unseen in this part of the world. Even our mistakes worked in our favor. And though our teamwork was our key, there were standouts. This week's MVP is Gordon as he went 2-2 with 2 runs scored, and 2 key catches in left field. The play of the game goes to Nathan for his shoe-string, finger-tip, and momentum-saving amazing catch in right field. Ah, the bench gets deeper. The bonds grow stronger. And, when the vibe is right, who knows? Your team may be the next to feel the Schweddyness!
Inglorious Ballstards
Let me paint you a picture. It was intense. The pitches were bouncy. The strike zone was unusually small and tension was high. There was snarling, fumbling and a bit of aggression. But ohhhh did we have fun…because we WON! Yeah we WON! Nah nah nah ni nah nah! We certainly didn’t make any friends at this game so why start trying now? With excellent kicking, catching and a solid team effort we did what we came out to do. And it couldn’t have all happened without this week’s standout and very clear defensive MVP - Sarah. With THREE unbelievable catches at short center (and one more IN THE FACE), she played with confidence, style and made this game look like kid’s play. Offensively, our home run slugger, Kelly, smacked another for a 2 shot Home Run bringing his total on the season to three. Our little maroon/crimson army is starting to blossom – like a skinny little teenager with spotty facial hair trying to grow a first mustache. It ain’t pretty but we sure are proud of it.
UniBalls
it was a tight game, with quick innings. Bluemooners and Uniballs were evenly matched. They took the lead early on, but the Unis took it back late in the game. It came down to the bottom of the last inning, when the BMs (heehee) stole back the lead, ending the game in a solid 3-2. We played well. MVP goes to Bradley, who has honed his catching skills and helped make for quick innings
Balls Deep
Balls Deep showed focused and determined to send a message to the Freeballers, and the rest of the league. We came out firing and the game was never really in doubt. With a final score of 12-2, the 12 runs allowed was more than the Freeballers had allowed TOTAL in their first 6 games.
We wanted to give the Freeballers a chance to redeem themselves on the flip cup tables, but they were largely a no show at Anna Liffeys and couldn't muster a team. The rumor was that Jose had to go apply some cocoa butter. As for the rest of the team, I did not hear their excuses.
MVP goes to the entire team, for a strong and focused effort. Also, thanks to to the Blue Mooners for sticking around and cheering, pom poms and all. We are looking forward to taking out the Pink Pirates in the playoffs. BALLS DEEP!!!
1st United Ct Kickers
Seven weeks in and while still undefeated 1st United Connecticut Kickers are still without a 50-45 mma unified rules victory. The Closers came out strong in the 2nd inning to take a brief lead before 1UCK turned the roster over in the top of the third and put the game out of reach. Final mma scoring is a unanimous 49-44 victory for the Kickers. On the plus side if 1st United shows up on the 6th, we've got 1st placed locked. Shout out to "Wolfie" who's dominance on both sides of the ball earn her both MVP and Rookie of the Week honors.
The bar was a mixed bag for 1UCK. While waiting for the rest of the division to show up cause apparently the was some important game going on, 1st United was able to secure a flip cup victory over their days opponent. Later in the evening, Balls Deep finally accepted 1UCKs offer to make up their week 1 flip cup match. I'm pretty sure someone on BD Zak can't flip his way out of a wet paper bag and then went on to monkey stomp the Kickers 5-1. Bar MVP goes out to Russell Morris for being the shining star of 1UCKs flip cup team.
Next week: I can't speak for the rest of the team, I'll be celebrating memorial day with at a 40 keg beer tasting Friday and Saturday, then a little UFC action on Saturday. Sunday maybe or may not lead me to the pick up games or a family cook out. The week after: Friday - team party, Saturday - Hartford Mid Season Party, Sunday - locking up the #1 seed for the playoffs
Wrecking Balls (Bonus)
Sometimes, the kickball gods are with you. Other times, they are against you. This is one of those times. Did we lose legitimately, absolutely! But do I have a solid reasoning as to why we lost? That I do not. It just seemed like anytime we had something good going, a few plays went against us and the inning was over. That is not to take away from Schweddy Balls, they certainly were the better team on the day. Just sometimes things just don't go your way.
The MVP for the day is without a doubt Brianna, as she again gave up here body for the cause. Her dedication was something legends are made of. LVP would definitely have to be myself as I not only got myself bunting, I also forgot to bring the ice for the team beverages, rookie mistake. Till then, keep on kickin'.
Balls to the Wall
WE WON!!!, and yes still undefeated in flip cup….
(This has to be the most, laziest write up in the history of all write ups. It seems Balls to the Wall tried to avoid us writing the bio for them because usually, I would embarrass them, call people out, say rude and harsh things; you know really make them not like me. This write-up doesn’t fly but, it’s the holidays so the blog team will give a free pass this time. Don’t make it a habit, because you know what we’re capable of.)
