Before I get into what's going down this week, let me just say that it was pretty cool to see teams that have been eliminated stay around and cheer on some of the other teams. I've been playing kickball for a little while now and in the other divisions I've played in, most teams just go home after being eliminated. So cheers to you, and hopefully some of you will make it back for the finals. Now onto the teams remaining.
#6 Blue Mooners - The Mooners have had an up and down season. Literally it seemed like every other game they would lose, regardless of how they stacked up against their opponent. Game of the season, knocking off the 7-1 Balls Deep in the quarter finals who had beaten them with some late inning heroics in week 2. They tied their season long win streak last Sunday with 2, but do they have what it takes to strech that to 3 or 4?
#5 Wrecking Balls - The WB have had streaky all season, win a couple games, lose a couple of games. This team is on a 4 game win streak, and has the talent to go all the way. The question is can they keep it going or will they revert back to their hot and cold running ways.
#2 Inglorious Ballstards - This team has been fairly solid the past couple weeks, but really has yet to have any real solid results against top teams. I'm sure that the memory of the crushing defeat they suffered at the hands of the Blue Mooners early in the season is huge in their head for redemption as they go into their semi-final game. Have they grown enough as a team to make this game a close one?
#1 1st United Connecticut Kickers - While their defense has been spotty through out the season, 1UCK's offense has done a fairly good job of making sure it didn't matter. The strange thing is as the season progresses the number of runs their opponents have scored has on the average gone up. Is this a case that teams are finally figuring out how to beat 1UCK?
Not only do we have the semi-finals and finals, but we have the division All-Star game this Sunday. For the majority of the season The West has had the East number but with both conferences having 2 teams in the final four and the All-Star game still up in the air, it may be too early to tell which conference is the dominant one.
