Presidential Address

My Fellow Kickballers:
We have reached the mid-way point for the season. Great times we've had so far but more to come I promise. We have the mid-season party this Saturday, (expected to be great) we have 4 more weeks of the regular season, the playoffs, and the end of season party. Just a couple of important announcements you need to be aware of.
*At the midseason we will only be having a beer pong tournament; we will be saving the flip cup for the end of season party. Beer Pong is first come, first serve! Registration is filling up fast, so sign up ASAP
* We all would like the punctuality of games to get a little better. Everyone is eager to get back to bar to watch the games and play flip cup so in order to so, lets be ready to play as soon as the game before yours is over. Please show up to your games at least 15-20mins beforehand so things can get moving fast. If you have to ref, please start the games at their scheduled times
*Field Clean-Up has been better, but we still can do an overall better job. We have no maids, so after your games are over please remove ALL clothing, trash, debris and any other evidence of you being there.
*With clean-up in mind, we currently have white trash bags to collect all cans, bottles, and any other things recyclable. In the coming weeks, to make it easier on you and the board… we will be the obvious blue recycle bins at the fields to place your items in. Remember, this is not trash … please be respectful and not lazy
* The Month of October is “Breast Cancer Awareness Month”. To show awareness, we are asking all team captains and players if they can, to wear some article of pink clothing and/or accessories. This will be a great message to show that New Haven Kickball is not all about drinking.
Also in addiction to this, our Charity Chairperson, Robb, will be selling pink bracelets from now until the end of October. If Robb, from Fever, hasn't found you yet and tried to shake you down for at least $5.00, he will. Or you could seek him out. If you don't already know who he is, he's not hard to find; he's the loud guy with the scruffy beard and cowbells wearing a shade of green called forest.
*October 3, 2010 (week 6) will be IVY’s Cross Conference Challenge, sponsored by Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This weekend will match East vs. West for all teams by rank in your conference. You will have the #1 team in the East vs the #2 team in the West and so on & so on right down the list. The schedule for the conference challenge will be posted after this Sunday’s games. Please make sure you check the schedule Sunday night, Monday Morning for your time of game.
*Lastly, playoffs will start the Sunday after week 8. On playoff Sunday we will be having the 1st games start at about 12:00pm. If haven’t already done so, check out the playoff schedule and plan your day accordingly. Games will be running from 12pm till about 430ish (to battle daylight savings time). Seeding will be based on season record and nothing else. The following Sunday will be the final four games, championship game and All-Star game.

See you all this weekend as Saturday promises to be a blast.

Your President,
Kyle R. Settle

Now a kind word from our Charity Chairperson:
As the charity chairperson for W.A.K.A.'s CT Ivy division, I am selling pink wristbands for Breast Cancer Awareness Month (October) with ALL money collected being donated directly to Susan G. Komen For The Cure. The wristbands cost $1.00 each or as much of a donation as you want to contribute. The bands come with one of four words imprinted on them: Faith, Hope, Strength, and Survivor. You can find me at the games on Sunday or at Anna Liffey's after...if I don't find you first!
Thank you,
Robb
