Greetings playoff-bound kickballers...
A couple of real close ones last week and a couple of blow-outs; but what about that Kickelback shutout of the Wreckers?!?!? That put Kickel in the #5 spot just ahead of the Wrecking Balls. Now who could've predicted that at the beginning of the season? Now some may contend that Green did this with some intention to gain a more favorable playoff berth, but I was there. That was not the case. The Kickel crew earned every bit of it. And the game was not without a good measure of controversy - intentional walks, adjust-on-the-fly kicking order, and a healthy dose of smack-talk. I love it. This weekend is certainly shaping up to be quite the test of skill and strategy. Scouting reports, special plays, lopsided line ups, and costumes! Gotta have the costumes. Just add adult beverages and some of the fantastic food that's been showing up lately, and we may as well call it the First Annual CT Ivy Halloween Party and Kickball Festival. All we need now is some live music or a stellar DJ....hmmmm....(hint, hint) So get it together, kids. For a few teams, the end is near. Start communicating with your teammates, plan your costumes, get warmed up, and drink plenty of liquids because Sunday is coming. And bring your "A" game unless you want to end up in one of STL's bodybags! Speaking of bringing things, this provides me with a perfect segue into the latest ramblings from the CT Ivy Headquarters regarding a new fundraiser of sorts.
Thanksgiving is just around the corner and in the spirit of the coming holidays, if each member of every team would be willing to purchase just one item of food for a Thanksgiving dinner, we would be able to provide a Thanksgiving meal to 14 families in need. This would be in addition to the donation kits that we typically put together and provide to Life Haven each year. It is our opportunity to give back to the community that lets us defile their parks and fields each season with our kickball debauchery. A checklist will be provided to your team captains and will probably be coming soon to an inbox near you!

“Kickball oh kickball, how the playoffs have been made. Kickball oh kickball, what the F Wrecking Balls?”
This was a very exciting week in kickball. I officially got to see almost every game, and not just because I was scouting out the competition. Ball Busters played a close game against Fever, with not a whole lot of action on either side. That third baseman of BB sure has one hell of an arm though. And how about Fever’s pitcher? She was dominating this game. Hamden Mafia and I are in a fight, and they know why…it’s cool, because we get to play them anyways…watch out Black biotches. Inglorious Ballstards still think their bastardness doesn’t stink, but just wait my little friends…just wait. For Mafia playing like crap, why was the score so close? Tell me that…? As for the Uniballs game, well, I have to be honest, I got a little bored. This was a dominated game by UB…couldn’t even get any good notes on them because after a while, they seemed to not care. I think I stayed watching this game to stare at Uni’s men…I mean, kicking ability. STL and Balls to the Wall game was another not really watched by myself…though I do remember a judgment call where one red player in particular seemed like he needed a nice big hug. Not to mention any names…Mike… =] Blue Ballers had most of their key players there this week…which was very exciting to watch. And then there is Wrecking Balls… my little green monsters, what happened? Was Rick’s party that intense? I mean…Yale’s Football game was…aka the reason I never made it to Rick’s party…haha. Way to go Kickelback! Did you have a few more practices? And how about them walking Gris that first time? Party foul. Bases were loaded for this orange dominating team almost every inning…WB barely made it past 2nd base. Very exciting week this past week…with a great spread of food by the WB…and, if I wasn’t hung over I might have thieved a Yueng Ling from that cooler…great beer. This will be a great playoffs…I can just feel it! ~glot
