Game of the Week
Game 1- [Ballstards v Ball Busters]
My oh my, what a game we have here. We have the one seed Ballstards who had scratch and claw their way to a very hard victory against the ever surprising Balls Deep team. We also have the Busters, who were seemingly on their way to a major upset against the Teabaggers but somehow managed to pull it off.
Both teams will want to show why they are worthy champions, more so the Busters who are looking for the 3 peat, and the Ballstards are looking to be the second team to finish without a loss. Now its time for them to show us who wants it more.
Game 2 - [Uniballs v Sweep the Leg]
Well, I think it’s about time that for all of us to stand up and listen. Sweep the Leg are showing us that we were all wrong to write them off during the mid point of the season. With their domination of the Wrecking Balls, Sweep showed that they are every bit of their title ambitions. Then we have the ever resourceful Uniballs, another team written off by most of us at the blog. After taking down the preseason favorite Blue Ballers, Uniballs had to face the 2 seed Hamden Mafia in the next round. With the real upset of the day, the Unis showed that they weren't just a team of the past and managed to get their way back into the semi finals. Two teams with a ton of momentum coming into this game, this game has game of the season written all over it.
GMOT Kickball Playoff Predictions
Inglorious Ballstards vs. Ball Busters:
This one will be good. If Maroon can get through it without any CF vs. P violence, they may be able to scratch out a win. But if even one mistake is made, IB, you better hope there are no Busters on base. Ballstards by one. ~ gmot
This game will be too close for comfort. I can see both sides putting up extremely strong defenses and any possible scoring won't happen until one of the last innings, when mistakes can cost you the game. I think Mr. Kickball and those other boys that are really fast on the Busters will figure out how to bring in multiple runs at the very last second (as they've been known to do recently) and the Ballstards just will not be able to retaliate. Ball Busters FTW! ~ Strawberry
This game will be without a doubt the most anticipated of the afternoon, both teams have a lot to prove. The Ballstards didn't quite get it down last season, where the Busters are looking to complete the 3 peat off the Fall. I say experience wins in the end, I have the Busters winning this game and keeping the dream alive. ~ Handsome Tom
A game that masses have been waiting for. When the brackets came out for the playoffs, this was the game everyone wished for. Busters, 2x fall champs, and the Ballstards, without a loss in the season. From the outside a very close game, but I have to be a homer, Ballstards by 1 ~ el Presidente
Sweep The Leg vs. Uniballs:
I think that this one will be more lopsided in the scoring. Uni's played a tight game against the Mafia last Sunday, but they'll have to do more to get past STL. I have STL by 3. ~ gmot
It's nice to see the UniBalls in the final four, many congrats to them, but I think STL has finally become comfortable in their kickball skins and will be unbeatable. Kharim's mind-blowing pitches and the team's all around goodness will put the UniBalls to shame. STL FTW! ~ Strawberry
Two teams with a ton of momentum coming into this game. Sweep after taking care of the Wrecking Balls with ease, and the Uniballs after taking the 2 seeded Hamden Mafia. The Unis have been here before, but I'm sticking with my prediction of last week, and I have Sweep winning this game and keep their mission to put the whole league in a body bag. ~ Handsome Tom
The Uniballs have improved dramatically, finally figuring out the pieces to the puzzle to make the a championship caliber team. I see this game close as this is a different defense the sweepers faced in week 5 and the Uni’s have seen Kharim’s pitching so there will be no surprises there. All in all, I see STL winning 3-2 and advancing to the chip ~ el Presidente
CHAMPIONSHIP Predictions:
Inglorious Ballstards vs. Sweep The Leg:
In week 3, it was IB over STL 5-3. While some talk going around suggests that IB's schedule was purposefully set up to be easy, I would think that somehow the entire league schedule was prophesied by Nostradamus to bring us right here: STL vs. IB for the championship. And the Ghost foresees Maroon being the second team in two consecutive seasons to go undefeated, again winning by 2. ~ gmot
Busters v STL
Oh lord, I just don't know. The battle of the blues will be bloody, with one team as good-looking as the other, but for some reason I've got this feeling in my stomach that STL will take this one. They're just so strong in the field and fast on the bases, and pretty much every player is as good as the next—girls and boys alike (and perhaps they'll stop harassing me for choosing against them almost all season??)... STL = Fall 2010 Champs! ~ strawberry
Ball Busters v Sweep the Leg
A rematch of a regular season match up, where the Busters were taken down 1-0 by the power pitching of Sweep's captain, this game has low scoring kind of feel. It will come down to who can manufacture the most runs, and this factor is why I think Sweep will crush the dream of the 3 peat of the Busters. Put them in a body bag indeed. ~ Handsome Tom
Sweep the Leg vs Inglorious Ballstards
Round II, their epic match-up of week 3 has still proven to be the game of the season… so why not end the 2010 kickball season that way. I see a tough game with lots of jocking for position, back and forth, extra innings, with the Ballstards coming up on top for their 1st Championship crown
